Development of Novel Pharmaceutical Agents: The Impact of Regulatory Initiatives in Japan

While drug development is often conducted for a global market, drugs are highly regulated to maximize the benefits to public health, which is assessed on a regional basis. In this lecture, Professor Tsukamoto will illustrate the development and regulation of drugs in a Japanese context especially in comparison with the EU and the US, using the case of innovative anti-cancer treatment and anti-diabetes treatments. He will also give an example of the way of research on regulatory science field.
